Seattle — Wal-Marts, the Seattle-based chain that has been growing rapidly in the U.S. over the past decade, will open a retail store in the Emerald City.
The Wal-mart stores are expected to open sometime in 2021.
“This is a great place to invest and grow our business,” Wal- mart President and Chief Executive Officer Doug McMillon said in a statement.
Wal-Mart will also expand its store footprint in the state, expanding from more than 600 stores to more than 1,000.
It’s expected that the chain will have stores in more than 300 stores by the end of 2021.
Wal-marts has grown rapidly in Seattle over the last few years.
In 2017, Wal- marts opened 1,078 stores, with the average age of an individual Wal- Mart store now under 20.
Its business has grown to more in the range of $50 billion a year and is expected to surpass $300 billion by 2026.
